Services

Precision Paleo offers a range of analytical services to best suit your needs. Whether you need samples prepared and analyzed for the first time, or have existing data sets in need of recalibration and re-interpretation for new scientific objectives, Precision Paleo has you covered. The best dataset is one that is clear, comprehensive, and applicable. Consider which service is right for your project. Don’t see exactly what you need? Reach out, and let’s find a solution.

  • Qualitative Analysis is the quickest and simplest form of data collection. Do you simply need to know whether a particular species is present or absent for basic age or environmental information? This is the analysis for you.

  • Quantitative analysis offers the highest level of precision and is detailed such that the dataset can be applied to meet any objective, current or future.

A statisticallquantitative data set is generated by counting each and every observed specimen following a modified version of Styzen’s (1997) counting method.

With a quantitative data set, you will have all you need to interpret where you are in geologic time and to characterizatize the depositional environment with the best precision that nannos have to offer.

  • Do you have a vintage data set, or even a modern one, that you need a specialist to interpret? Like other scientific fields, micropaleontology has evolved and improved through the decades. Over time, species names change, age datums are recalibrated, and a specialist is your best bet for accurately deciphering the details. This service is not limited to calcareous nannofossils; Precision Paleo can help you with foraminifers, marine diatoms, and some radiolarians, too.

  • Deliverables always include a fully detailed written report describing your results sample by sample. Quantitative results will include a spreadsheet of the raw count data, and a comprehensive biostratigraphic chart displaying total nannofossil abundance, species richness, and age- and environmentally-specific species, by depth, to easily visualize geologic time and events. Most other data sets can be added to these charts including, but not limited to, well logs, isotopes, or other microfossil data, for an integrated and comprehensive interpretation. At Precision Paleo, I want you to get the most out of your data. It is of utmost importance that my clients clearly understand the results and are able to apply them to achieve project objectives.

  • One of my favorite aspects of micropaleontology is to teach others all about it! Micropaleontology and biostratigraphy are powerful tools; let me show you how you can apply them! Precision Paleo is available for presentations, guests lectures, short courses and consultation meetings.
